Simply Bill

After our PYO experience I have had alot of fruit to use up – it is very easy to get carried away with the picking! Turning to Bill Granger I found 2 recipes to try which would make a good dent in the cherries and plums. I have not tried either and was pretty pleased at how they turned out. Really simple too which is second only to taste in priority!

To use up the cherries I decided to try Cherry Clafoutis. I have never made one before and it is scrummy!

Butter, for greasing

250g cherries, pitted

4 tablespoons plain flour, sifted

125ml milk

185ml cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 eggs

To serve – cream or creme fraiche

Preheat the oven to 180C. Grease a 1.5 litre flan dish with butter and dust with a little caster sugar, then arrange the cherries in the dish. Mix the flour and sugar in a bowl, add the milk, cream and vanilla and whisk together. Add the eggs and whisk until smooth. Pour over the cherries and bake for 30-35 minuted or until puffed and golden. Serve warm with cream or creme fraiche.

It’s been a chaotic 2 weeks in our household and to be honest our dinners have been lazy and not worth a blog but hopefully will pick up again now!! I will post the plum cake in the next couple of days as all this chaos has exhausted me! I bought The Reader on DVD yesterday so I am going to slope off to bed, curl up and watch it.

Ciao for now!
